Introduction

James Fetherston has been associated with NDRI since April 2001. He is currently enrolled in the NDRI PhD program, working on the thesis topic of hepatitis C prevention and treatment in custodial environments. The aims of his thesis are twofold: to estimate the potential of comprehensive provision of HCV treatments in prison using epidemic modelling techniques and to explore existing barriers to prisoners accessing HCV treatment.

Prior to this he was employed as a Research Associate working on projects investigating repeat drink drivers and community attitudes towards cannabis and its associated legislation. He was also the coordinator of the WA arm of the Illicit Drug Reporting System (IDRS) from 2002-2007 and remains attached to the project in an advisory capacity. Before joining NDRI, James was engaged as a Research Officer with the Drug and Alcohol Office (formerly known as Next Step Specialist Drug and Alcohol Services) and as a counsellor with the Alcohol and Drug Information Service (ADIS)
